Songs for Springtime

“Spring is dancing along the valleys and across the hills. The colour is coming! The air is filling with the sounds of birds, the fragrance of flowers, a balmy warmth in the breeze, and the strengthening light of the spring sun. I will stand atop the hill, with my hands joyfully raised, welcoming the Spring.”

“It’s spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you’ve got it, you want — oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!” (M. Twain)

“April hath put a spirit of youth in everything.” (W. Shakespeare)

“Yesterday the twig was brown and bare;
To-day the glint of green is there;
Tomorrow will be leaflets spare;
I know no thing so wondrous fair,
No miracle so strangely rare.”
(L.H. Bailey)

“The Spring has come again
For the grass is growing green,
And among the fields of clover
Bright butterflies are seen.
The little birds are singing sweetly
As they fly from tree to tree…
The busy bees are gathering
The honey from the flowers,
And the merry birds are building
Their nests in sheltered bowers…”
(J D.C)

“Spring: the music of open windows.” (T. Guillemets)
